The 600 Valiant is an excellent size for heavier offshore fishing, perfect for 50-80lb line. It’s the same size range as the old Boss 665H which was one of the most popular models for Accurate at the time. It works well for heavier live bait, yoyo irons, casting wahoo bombs and jigs, heavy dropper loops, sinker rigs and much more. This size holds up to 500 yards of 80lb braid making it a great starter size for the night time bluefin jigging on the long range boats.
Despite its size it is still very light and easy to handle making it a great reel to pair with a modern thin and light composite or graphite rod. These now come with the larger rubber knob instead of the metal ball handle which improves ergonomics a lot but they can still be ordered with the bigger T-bar aluminum or even SPJ handles with a small upcharge from the factory if needed.
