The 800 Valiant is a great standup 100lb reel, perfect for night time bluefin jigging as well as live bait fishing on the long range boats targeting big yellowfin. By default it comes with lugs so you can even troll with this size. The spool profile is about the same as a traditional 30 size reel able to hold 600 yards of 100lb braid. Despite the size and capacity it is light weight making it easy to fish all day.
Accurate doesn’t recommend running too much monofilament line on these because they’re designed for braid but a short topshot for trolling won’t hurt. The new models come with the larger rubber handle knob instead of the metal ball handle which is a welcome change in this class of reel, but you can always upgrade to the metal T-bar Xtreme knob or even the ergonomic SPJ handle. If you don’t need the lugs Accurate also sells plugs to make these reels easier to handle.
