The new Certate SW expands the saltwater spinning reel line that Daiwa currently offers. Instead of having a big gap between the $200 and $1000 price range they have introduced the Certate SW to slot right in between. These reels feature all of the major benefits that the Saltiga redesign has brought to the table including the MQ frame which allows for a much larger and stronger main gear without sacrificing size and weight constraints, the MagSealed line roller and main shaft and the improved drag stack. These reels feature single piece aluminum frames which help with the durability and strength as well as the water resistance that these reels offer. By having fewer points of ingress it is much easier to achieve high water resistance making these reels great for saltwater use.
The new drag stack and redesigned metal drag knob makes these reels more consistent and durable for long fights with big fish. The heat from the drags can be easily dissipated through the spool and drag knob to insure the temperature doesnt vary your drag making it inconsistent. The main difference between these reels and the 2020 Saltiga spinners is the rotor, as opposed to using the aluminum design like the Saltigas the Certate uses their high end Zaion carbon fiber material which will cut down on the weight without sacrificing on durability. The previous generation Saltiga reels also had this style of rotor to cut down on weight. Overall these are great and durable reels designed to last a lifetime of use on bigger game.
